A general trend the last seven years has been to keep everyone scared. The Catholic Church used to do this in the middle ages to keep their flock subservient on the outside chance there really was a hell. Now politicians do it to keep people marching lockstep behind any inane policy.
The saddest part of this is that some people know better than to scare people but they do it to hold on to power. The other people just are susceptible to fear. If there is a .0000000000001 percent chance the sky could fall they will act as if there is a 99.9999999999 percent certainty that it will.
Some smart and not so nice people know that about you.

Guazy Memories
The Right is frequently rambling on about trying to hang on to some idealized value or idea that never really existed such as the 1950s. You know, when Republican President Eisenhower was warning about the military industrial complex that the Right loves so much now and compulsively feeds.
Then there's the great stuff about how minorities were treated in the good old days, and women, and disabled people and...But don't let the truth get in the way, the idealized memory is always softer and you also don't have to look at what a jerk you are.
The rich did well as always if I recall correctly. Even though the tax rate was much higher than what it is now.

Guns and God
People get so mad when someone points out they vote on guns and God. Then they go to church and go target shooting. Then they vote on guns and God.
Relaxed Martha Stewart
Could Martha Stewart be any more obsessive compulsive? I worry she'll explode one day from trying too hard to be perfect. So much money, so little happiness.

Workaholics
Just saw a statistic that we take less vacation than other developed countries and that many people are afraid of taking vacation because they might lose their job or look bad. Just another example of our kind, supportive society at work. All work and no play makes Jack a head case.
This Protestant work ethic gives us a lot of headaches and generates a lot of humorless workaholics who don't know how to connect on any other level other than work.

US Post Office Stamp Prices
Another sign the economy has tanked in the last seven years is how frequently stamp prices would go up. Remember the days when stamp prices didn't go up every year or six months?
The Rich Create Jobs
If this were true, we would have the most wonderful employment figures ever and the middle class would be doing great because the last seven years has created an explosion of these supposedly job-creating rich people. The key word in trickle down economics is trickle. You can't pay for expensive healthcare, energy, food, mortgage and gas with a trickle.
Failing Economy
When you weaken the middle class you weaken the economy. A country skewed toward helping only the rich tends to shaft everyone else. Then the experts are surprised by the tanking economy. Of course GM is tanking, nobody has the money to buy their cars.

The Incredible Shrinking Products
Have you noticed how we're paying the same or more at the supermarket for items that keep getting smaller? Just another sign of a great economy courtesy of the right wing.

Fear of Illegal Immigrants
Did you know many people are petrified of illegal immigrants? Then they crap in the toilets the illegal immigrants clean, eat the food the illegal immigrants cook and enjoy the lawns the illegal immigrants mow. Then they look the other way at the companies that are paying the illegal immigrants sub par wages to wash dishes. And who can ignore those huge lines of people clamoring for the jobs these illegals are taking away from our citizens? People are literally lined up to clean toilets. Yeah, those illegals are sure screwing everything up. If you are afraid of illegals you're either a racist or a douchebag or both.

Pit Bulls
What is it with people wanting to own a dog that is genetically programmed to latch on to things with great ferocity? Just another example of the small penis syndrome sweeping the country. It also speaks to how scared everyone is about everything. So scared that we must own super aggressive dogs.

Hummer
This is the manifestation of a culture obsessed with big wangs and scared of everything. Owning a Hummer is based on the same fear and insecurity that drives people to own a pit bull. The more aggressive and big you want to look the weaker you are inside. Truly strong people don't have to broadcast it.

Tribunals vs. Court System
The only reason beside expediency on the battle field for tribunals is to obfuscate or hinder the exposition of the truth. All criminals, no matter how hideous, should be tried in our court system, in the open, with no secrets so that there is not even the hint of any impropriety. The reason certain high value detainees are not being tried in the open is that it would reveal how horribly the Administration trespassed on the Constitution and defied our current civil and military laws. All because of their small dicks, including the second in command.
You're a Conservative?
What kind of supreme douchebag do you have to be to call yourself a conservative nowadays. After seeing what currently passes for conservatism destroy the country you'd have to be a complete idiot to still identify with this group. Just goes to show how juvenile our culture is, including our inability to admit we're dead wrong.

Illegal Immigrants and the Law
Make no mistake: The people who consider illegal immigration to be a law and order issue are the same ones who look the other way when the very politicians they support break the law.
Silver Bullet
There are some really stupid sayings in the political world. One is Silver Bullet, as in, "We don't have a silver bullet that will fix that problem," or some other meaningless variation. This is a saying used by a famous formerly gap-toothed Secretary of State and others in the same Administration to refer to a "magic cure" or "solution." Maybe they mean to say magic bullet. Or could it be that they are referring to The Lone Ranger or computer jargon which don't make sense either.
The silver bullet is more properly and commonly thought of as the thing that kills werewolves or a common nickname for a popular light beer, not for solutions to the world's complex problems. Idiot sayings, idiot policies.

Decline of Our Country
What more proof do you need of the decline of our country than the amount of senseless crimes, including murder, that are commited? A society that doesn't care for its own breeds individuals who don't care for themselves or others. It might be helpful for all the conservative folks out there to re-evaluate their belief in letting people fend for themselves until they are so screwed up that they commit crimes.
If we cared for our citizens we would not have the epidemic of violence we currently have. Just another symptom of the culture of responsibility. Translation: Culture of you're on your own.
Don't believe me? Listen to a certain fat radio host and then decide what kind of country his vitriol would create. Or there's that Skeletor looking blonde lady that spews venom. Yeah, their beliefs would make the country more peaceful. I've also got a bridge that I'd like to sell you.

War and Wangs
When small men with small penises need to feel better about themselves they pick a fight. If they are so weak and cowardly that they can't beat up on anyone, they start a war. Courage would require one to actually talk to others, even enemies. War is easy, peace complex. It's sort of like smacking your kid. It's easy to make your kid be quiet by smacking him but much harder to talk with them. Make no mistake, war is about weak wangs.

The Reason People Fight
Nobody backs down and everyone assumes others are trying to hurt them. Also, people have no clue how to put themselves in the other person's shoes and understand their side. Nobody backs down.
eBay Feedback
If you've ever bought or sold anything on eBay you may be familiar with their reticence to deal with any conflict that arises except through a drawn out, painful process. This leaves the feedback system as the only line of defense, but it's a poorly implemented one because:
- People can slam you unjustly and you can't get rid of the feedback.
- The feedback can't be withdrawn completely or changed in case of mistakes.
- People use it as a tool of intimidation by threatening poor feedback.
- There's no guarantee of a satisfactory outcome for either party
- eBay takes no responsibility for any conflict arising on its site.
Self Reliance
Did you know there is a huge segment of this country that thinks you're on your own for everything. Forget government, it can't help you with anything. All I need is my propane tank and my gun. Nobody ever gave me anything so I ain't givin' nobody nuthin'.
Why don't we just call it a day and rename our nation independence land. Our motto could be, "Where everyone does exactly what they want to do and nobody cares about anyone else or the common good." Pathetic.
You live in a country with other people. Not your own little universe. Grow up and let others into the sandbox. Nobody ever said selfishness is next to Godliness.

State of the Union
Divided and not well. Correction: the rich are doing well. Everyone else gets to gleefully participate in the euphemistically named culture of responsibility. Let me translate that in case people don't realize what culture of responsibility really means. It means you're on you own.
Never Forget
All these well meaning groups and organizations that never want to forget their cause are missing a key point. To heal you have to acknowledge but be able to let go. Constantly reliving trauma doesn't help anyone heal. This country needs some more healing not more fixation on mourning.

Hollywood Stars are Like You and Me
Hollywood stars aren't some special kind of person. They run the same gamut as the rest of the population. Some are happy, some not, some rich, some not, some mean, some nice. Why the fascination with all these people? I'm sure some are very nice people but why don't we celebrate and pay a teacher the same for the heroic work she or he does.
Britney Spears Mental Condition
Isn't there anyone who is close to Britney Spears that can help her get adequate help. This means long term help that will allow her to work through her issues. Meanwhile, everyone voyeuristically watches her self destruct. I guarantee all the TV exposure, tabloids, gossip does nothing to help Britney Spears on any other Hollywood star get better. It's like we hound them into even getting worse. When did this start happening? Pathetic.

Mullets
You mean to tell me people actually get this haircut on purpose. Also, contrary to popular misinformation, the 80s trendy haircuts worn by groups like U2 are not mullets, they just happen to be short on the sides. A mullet is a bad haircut unto itself, lame short hair on top and front, long straggly hair in back, short on the sides...yikes. Real mullets were always worn by people who had no sense of style in any way and not intended as fashion. Just a way to keep one's long hair from high school or childhood, like the rat tail hairdo which is essentially a one strand in the back mullet variation. The equivalent of today's shaved on the sides and Frankenstein looking bangs in front hairdo.

Bad Drivers
Usually the worst drivers are the ones that think they are the best drivers. "I've been driving ever since I was 12 years old on the farm," says Grandma. Almost everyone boasts they are great drivers but look around sometime, if these were all great drivers you wouldn't see half the lunacy that goes on out there.
Dudes Crying
What is it with dudes crying with all the coughing and chortling. Cry already you douche bag. Oh, I forgot, you're certain someone will think you're gay if you cry. Cough, hack, chortle, cough. This is why guys beat each other up instead of talking. Cry already, jeez.

Short Term Thinking
Everyone is so good at thinking what's best for them right now. Our country is based upon short term thinking. The only problem is that most issues are long term.
When you tackle issues long term you decrease the likelihood that they'll turn into problems. If you have preventive healthcare you're less likely to die of an undiagnosed heart attack for example.
Why are we a short term thinking nation? Instant gratification makes us feel better. Want to know how well short term thinking is working? Look at how well we're doing with credit cards, obesity, the economy and diplomacy and you'll get a feel for how well short term thinking works.

Paris Hilton
What has Paris Hilton done to deserve anything besides being a rich daughter who hails from an obviously dysfunctional household and is a mess herself? I have yet to see any talent in this one beyond preening and keening for the camera. Spoiled is never pretty.
Reactionary Vs. Progressive
There's a reason conservatives are reactionary and liberals are progressive. Reactive thinking waits for something to happen and then does some lame thing to try to fix the problem after the fact. It usually involves some sort of hard ass action like cutting government or going to war. Proactive thinking means you plan for contingencies and deal with them before they happen. It avoids having to run around like a chicken without a head because you have a system in place to increase the likelihood of success.
Examples:
*Giving poor kids afterschool activities and hope instead of locking them up once they've committed a crime.
*Planning economic policy to help the greatest amount of citizens rather than trying to fix a recession because too much money has been siphoned to the rich.
*Developing alternatives to oil instead of willy nilly drilling for more of the stuff that's going to run out anyway.
*Using diplomacy to talk to the world and avoid conflict instead of knee-jerk war.
Try some proactive (or progressive) thinking sometime. It might be a little more difficult up front but the pay off is that you have more sound policy driving the country.

Problems with MySpace and Facebook
If you have a child who is obsessively involved with MySpace or Facebook - online social networking - to the point that it is dangerous, you might want to look at your parenting skills rather than blaming everything on society. Try listening to your child once in a while instead of always wringing your hands and prohibiting things.
Did you know there are actually millions of parents in our country that believe that children are to be seen but not heard. Then they whine about the child reaching out to others to be heard.
Then the familiar, "He seemed like such a nice boy, quiet."
Don't talk at your kids, listen to them. You'll be amazed what you find out. Or you can keep promising them they'll go to hell, that works great.

Ditto Heads
What kind of a douche bag do you have to be to believe what this fat turd says? Go out and do something nice from someone. You may have to let go of your gun, your border patrol goggles, your flag, your Bible and get off the couch; but I guarantee you will feel better about yourself by doing good things rather than following a radio host that has done much to destroy this country.
How about helping make this country a kinder place or voting for a tax that will pay for schools or some other horrible thing like that? You might also want to get some professional help so you don't have to die selfish.

More Tax Cuts for the Rich
If you're a middle class person you should not be even getting close to considering voting for a candidate who will give more tax cuts to the richest in our society. This scam perpetuated by the one of the major parties is simply a way to, you guessed it, siphon more money to the rich, leak a meager trickle down to you and limit your ability to buy beer. Don't believe me? How well are you and your middle class friends doing versus the executives at Exxon/Mobil? Remember what you were paying for gas when these clowns took office? How about milk, heating oil, natural gas...
Why do people vote against their own self interest? All you have to do is look at outcomes. Who's getting richer and who's benefiting the most from policies. It ain't Joe Sixpack. Google how much the Vice President's stocks have gone up since he's been in office for a glimpse at what I'm talking about.

Recession
Did you know that there is a whole block of candidates from a party I won't mention that say that they'll improve the economy by continuing the policies of the current president. You've got to be kidding. Yet millions upon millions will line up and vote for one of these turds because they make their dead, compassionless hearts feel better. As long as you can keep up the lie you don't have to face the truth. They've bankrupted the country. Fiscal conservatives...(laughs uproariously followed by vomiting). Liars.

Breaking the Law
Why is it some poor sucker who commits a crime in the ghetto gets prosecuted to the full extent of the law while rich people who literally destroy our country and its institutions get a slap on the hand. No wonder the rich want to keep the power for themselves, so they can keep pulling this stuff off.

Big Tough Guys
Funny how these big tough guys who try to be all macho and stuff are the same one's who can't talk to their Dads, wives or daughters. How tough is that?
Suggestive Selling
So now my bank gives me a sales pitch every time I do a transaction in person. It also happens when I call my credit card company. I wonder whatever happened to not annoying people at every opportunity with your lame sales pitch. Just another example of capitalism and business making your life better.
Tailgating
Everyone claims they are a great driver and then they tailgate. The reason you shouldn't tailgate is because, not only does it put you at higher risk of hitting the person in front of you, it also increases the odds of a multiple vehicle crash occurring.
Tailgating is even more dumb in rain, snow or ice. Then again, the tailgater is getting some kind of satisfaction from trying to intimidate other drivers. Great people.

Mean People
Imagine living a life where you make others feel horrible all the time. What does that say about you? Why would anyone live a life like that? They hate themselves.
Washing Hands after Going to the Bathroom
Have you seen these people who don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom. What kind of jerk do you have to be to do this. "Nobody's gonna tell me what to do." Then they go shake other people's hands and use the office microwave. Just because you don't care about washing your hands doesn't mean you have to affect other people with your ridiculous actions. These are the same people who don't give a hoot about poor people and couldn't care less about helping anyone with anything. I guess some people are just rude.
Against Political Correctness
The only people against political correctness are those who feel their political views are the only ones that are correct. Must be great to see the world from only one perspective, for simpletons. Problem is there is more than one perspective on pretty much everything. Not everyone thinks your view on taxes is correct.
Those railing against political correctness tend to be those who want to hang on to awesome beliefs like racism and sexism. I'd be upset too if I had to defend beliefs such as those.

Imposing Your Beliefs
People seem to be so sensitive about defending their points of view and beliefs. They can't seem to see the world from any other perspective but their own. When one can only see the world from one perspective, one finds other opinions and ideas to be threatening. If we would focus more on understanding others we wouldn't always have to be fighting so hard to defend our beliefs. People also get really hurt and angry if someone challenges their beliefs. Country full of babies.
So what if someone doesn't agree with your beliefs? Move on. Why does everyone have to impose their beliefs on others? Grow up, live the best life you can live and leave everyone else alone.

Where are the Good Men?
If men spent a tenth of the time they spend thinking of their wieners on being great people we'd have a wonderful world. Instead, they just think about their wieners. Then there's that beer thing that takes up the rest of the brain power.
Nudity
Everyone is so titillated and excited or outraged and scared by nudity. If we all just accepted that we all have bodies and there's nothing wrong with sex then nudity wouldn't be such a hot issue. It also would lead to a lot of bored religious people. All some of these people have sexually is their anger toward those who might actually enjoy nudity.
Imagine being scared of nude bodies. Pathetic.

Airport Security
One of the hallmarks of a nation that is reactive rather than proactive is that we run around like chickens without heads at the slightest hint of danger, but only after the fact. A police state isn't adept at foreseeing issues it's only capable of enforcing more rules. Airport security has taken this to an extreme with the following examples:
I wonder who benefits from all this fear? Oh, I forgot, our current leaders. If our leaders, and you know which ones, didn't have a vested interest in keeping the populace exhausted and frightened, we would have made great strides to returning to norma by now. If our leaders benefit from keeping us scared we'll continue to have the police state we've designed to date.
P.S. No amount of safeguards in airports or elsewhere treat the root causes of why people would want to attack us. That's the proactive approach our current policy neglects.
- We are attacked by airplanes (heinously for sure) and so all airplanes for all time for millions upon millions are now a 100% risk. Reactive. Proactive would be to assess actual risk and take appropriate measures such as screening all ticket holders and measuring risk based on actual risk potential.
- One guy has explosives in his shoe and we then have to inconvenience millions upon millions of people for year after year on the minuscule chance someone else will do this. Reactive. Proactive would be to assess actual risk and perhaps develop a shoe scanning machine where people can leave their shoes on.
- One guy has liquid explosives so we inconvenience millions upon millions of innocent travelers and limit what they can and can't bring on a plane. Reactive. Proactive would be developing a machine that sniffs out certain substances.
I wonder who benefits from all this fear? Oh, I forgot, our current leaders. If our leaders, and you know which ones, didn't have a vested interest in keeping the populace exhausted and frightened, we would have made great strides to returning to norma by now. Why the Press and Media Suck
An informed populace is essential to a democracy. The press is not reporting on the actions that are shredding our Constitution and our way of life. Why is this? It's easy: because of money. News departments are run by companies rather than journalists. The companies cut news room staff, thus limiting investigative reporting. Companies also insist on padding news with ratings-based information rather than the more boring business of subverting the Constitution or ruining the middle class. When the driving force of news is money rather than disseminating objective (as close as possible) information then content suffers.
P.S. News that sets out to support one agenda is not fair and balanced. News is about reporting facts, things that are observable and verifiable by at least two independent sources. Opinion is not news.

Talk Radio and Media Lies
Why do you suppose conservative talk radio and media outlets don't admit opposing views, open discussion and fact checking? Because that would mean they would be open to be exposed as the frauds they are. It's hard to defend lies under the bright light of the sun.

You ever wonder if the guys so intent on bashing gays are actually trying to deny their homosexual tendencies by appearing hyper macho. Why else would you be so scared of gays? Oh, I forgot, The Bible. I'm sure Jesus was all for bashing people.
Women and Bad Dating Habits
One of the biggest predictors for how well women will do dating men is their relationship with their dad. If your dad was an insensitive, emotionally unavailable meat head guess what you're going to end up dating. It's predictable. Now you know.

War Mongers
War mongers don't realize that it's their belief that there will always be war that perpetuates perpetual war. If you begin to believe that war can be eliminated you start doing things differently than the war mongers and it leads in a different direction.
If you say, "There will always be war," you create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Also, always remember who benefits from war. Hint: think of who is making money off the war currently.

Judgment Day
Conservative radio and media personalities may want to think hard about how the God they supposedly believe in will judge them. You don't get points when you meet your maker for hurting people, spreading fear and lies or making lots of money. Greed and lust for power don't count either. They best prepare expensive asbestos suits that will withstand eternal heat. Luckily theirs is a fate they can't run away from. Their own actions will dictate the punishment reserved for them and no amount of fame, wealth or notoriety can clean a filthy conscience.
Why is this true? Good people don't act the way these people do.

Doesn't Play Well with Others
These are the people who eventually become like our current president and vice president. Horrible as children, horrible as adults. It also says a lot about the families they come from. They come from trauma so they create trauma.
Example: Someone made fun of what a serious douche bag I was in high school, so I'm going to screw the country someday.
Example 2: My parents made me feel so insecure that I blew up frogs out of anger so, for the remainder of my life, I will feel entitled to be cruel to anyone and anything.

Politics of Good
Whether you are from the right or left I think it's fair to say this country can do better that it's doing right now. Cultures are measured by how they treat their weakest members and the example they set for other countries.
It's like a parent who abuses his children claiming to have a high moral authority. What kind of person abuses his kids? What kind of country allows it's citizens to suffer. Ours.
Politicians might want to think of promoting a country of tolerance and community rather than greed and bigotry. Can't be done? Only if you think it can't.

Fighting for the Past
People idealize the past and wish for the good old days when this country was more pure and people respected each other and...people were segregated. Good grief.
Freedom to Be a Jerk
I wonder why people fight so hard to hang on to beliefs and practices that hurt and offend others. Why be a jerk when you could do something other than bother someone else?
Long Hair and The Bible
You ever meet these people that think a woman isn't a woman unless she has long hair? Same people who think a woman's place is in the kitchen and pumping out babies. It would be great to see those guys in the kitchen and pumping out babies instead of hanging out with their buddies , drinking beer, farting and/or interpreting the Bible.
P.S. A "literal" reading of the Bible usually means giving dudes all the rights and keeping the women subservient. Don't let anyone pull the wool over your eyes on this one and, especially, don't let anyone take away your rights because they say the Bible says something.

A Country Divided
This country is so divided that nobody gives an inch on their positions and there are no consensus decisions. A country so fractured is vulnerable to rulers who prey on this divisiveness and even exploit it for their own gain. They then rise to power and keep the conflict going because it benefits them. It would be great to have leaders that remind us of the things we have in common.
United we stand...you know the rest.
United we stand...you know the rest.
Voting Your Interests
Next time you vote you might want to consider voting for people who will actually help you and your family get ahead. The proof is always in the results. Are the rich getting richer at the expense of the middle class? Is the middle class healthy and enjoying upward mobility? Are the leaders creating more poor people? Results speak much louder than any words about how well the country is doing.
Also, denying people the right to abortion or instituting prayer in schools will not put food on your table or get you a better job.

Atrocious Spelling
Look online or around town sometime and witness the disastrous spectacle of spelling malpractice. It's like staring at the sun. Examples seen recently:
Your my best friend.
He's a looser.
Its my brothers car.
Let me give you some advise.
We have seperate beds.
My donations are deductable.
I here you.
I recieved the gift's.
I spell good.
I have good grammer.
I would of gone.
I have more then him.
He blatently told me off.
The dog at it's food.
I ain't done nothing wrong.
He definately told me that.
Please be quite.
He took they're order.
Why does this matter? You don't want a country full of people that can't write their own language do you? Where are the English as official language people when you need them? How about teaching the populace how to spell, whatever happened to that? You'd have to fund education for that and educated people threaten those who already have stuff. I'm starting to see a pattern here. Who knew spelling was a leading economic inequality indicator?

The Secret of The Secret
The Secret is the amazingly successful book on how to get anything you want in life based on the Law of Attraction. The secret about the secret is one that many have understood over the years. When you put out certain vibes you get certain things in return. If you're positive guess what you're more likely to get in return. If you do something in life you love then you're more likely to feel successful.
One thing to look out for in The Secret: you cannot wish yourself into anything, it takes sustained action over time.
A problem with The Secret that comes to mind is that it moves people away from the basics of being successful which include hard work and dedication and shifts it to the lure of easy success and, of course, money.

Looking Cool on My Cell Phone
I know I look cooler and like a lot of people like me and like I'm mega popular because I'm on my cell. I'm important and needed. It was also imperative that I check on how you're doing with clipping your toenails.
Frantic Technology Overload
We have all this technology to keep us busy at all times, connected in every way in frantic momentum. This, of course, keeps us from the important stuff like sitting down with our kids or taking a walk with our spouse or telling someone important we love them. The more frantically busy and multi tasking we become the less connection we have to what really means a lot in life.
Don't believe me? What means more: a million emails or text messages to your kid or ten minutes listening to them about their day. What means more: being available to your boss 24 hours a day or looking at a sunset with your spouse.
Technology is wonderful for technological purposes but it doesn't necessarily add meaning to our lives.

I Hate the Government
You ever notice all those government haters are the first to look to the government for help when a natural disaster hits them. There should be a rule that if you don't believe in government then you can't use the services. Hypocrisy rules.
Conservative Values
So let me get this straight: We don't want government in our lives or government to run anything. So that leaves, I'm assuming, the corporations to run everything and perhaps the military to run the rest. Isn't that what happened in Italy and Germany?
Government is set up to help the people. Unless you've never needed a business license, a school, a road, a fire or police department, a court, a post office etc. etc. People seem to forget that private corporations aren't set up to be the government. Yet conservatives keep touting the need for less government.
Love less government? Then you must love our current gas prices, food prices, healthcare costs, sub par educational system, Enron, mortgage mess and insert your other free-market success story. Government can actually help keep these things in check but there's a lot of people out there who would rather bask in all this wonderfulness.
P.S. In this country the government is you. If the country fails it's your fault.

Against Affirmative Action
It's ironic that when old white guys rail against affirmative action or quotas of any type they fail to recognize that white men have been the recipients of every affirmative action and quota since the country started. It's only when you start taking their toys away that they forget what their moms taught them about sharing. What nobody tells them is that the country will actually be better off in the long run if everyone has a higher standard of living. A rising tide lifts all boats.
Staying Connected
What would happen if some of these hyper-connected, constantly texting, compulsively talking on the cell phone people slowed down for a moment. They might have to face their pathetic, empty shell of a being. Or they could work on making themselves a better person without always having to be in contact with others.

Going Down the Tubes
It appears a still gigantic part of our populace is perfectly happy watching the country go down the tubes and will vote for a person to continue the downward trajectory. If there ever was a definition of jerk, this has to be one.

Used Car Salesmen
What is it that creates this revolting mix of phoniness, boys locker room attitude and lack of ethics? Oh, I forgot: the dealership owners. Who invented this business model, a big fat guy and his farting buddies in the 1940s? Yes. Now go out there and roll another sucker. Just another glowing example of how the free market takes care of the consumer.
Infomercials
Is it possible anyone believes the products in infomercials are any more special than the ones you find in stores. The reason they market them directly is because they couldn't get them in stores. When they are useful and accepted by the public they end up in, you guessed it, stores. You ever notice people get really excited about things like juice, abs, rotisseries and sandwich machines that borders on creepiness?
Checks and Balances
The reason the founding fathers set up three separate but co-equal branches of government is that they understood that their were certain people that would get in power who would try to eliminate this separation and abuse the limits of their power.
Checks and balances means no one party or belief trumps all others. You arrive at decisions as a consensus. This prevents radicalism in any one direction. Sadly, there has been very little checking or balancing the last seven years, just a lot of moving to the right. Just remember what kind of government you get when you move all the way to the right.

Downsizing
What kind of jerk do you have to be to fire people in order to make your shareholders more money? Profits at all costs, including humans. Then you turn around and say you're pro life.
Snot Blowers and Spitters
You seen these guys? Blowing snot and spitting all the time. The people who like these people are either one of them or their dad is one of them or their sister is married to one of them. You can't really love this unless you've been dealt this hand and don't think you deserve better. I've got news for everyone, there is better.

OXO Good Grips Gripe
Does anyone really believe that these giant, rounded grips make things easier to hold? What am I six years old? Our fingers benefits from having a surface or angle to anchor on not something rounded that will slip around. You ever try to use one of those shower brushes with the end that looks like an egg? Impossible. There's also this knife advertised on TV that has a ball on the top of the blade that supposedly helps you steady the knife. Guaranteed you'll slip off the ball because balls don't have anchor points. Give me stuff I can grip instead of rounded stuff, is that too much to ask for?

Our Healthcare Mess
You see these pleas on the news all the time: So and so needs medical care and the family doesn't have enough money. A fund has been set up for anyone wishing to donate.
This in the richest nation on earth. Why do we owe people healthcare? Because we are the richest nation on earth.
Why is is far less rich nations can figure out how to give their citizen's healthcare?
For you people who always crow about how great our healthcare is...it isn't that great for those who don't have access to it.

Low Pants
Many people are really worried about the low pants kids are wearing. Yeah, that's it, keep worrying about the pants instead of providing them excellent education, promise for the future, healthcare, birth control, freedom of religion, freedom from sexism, the right to marry if they're gay, the right to social security etc. etc.

Confidence
The cockier a person acts the less confident they actually are. If you have to brag about something it usually means you don't feel that great about yourself. It all starts with one's feeling of self worth and self esteem. Too abstract? It just means that you believe in yourself enough to not be a jerk.

The Uninsured
45 million people don't have health insurance in our country, the richest country in the world. Want to know how many people that is? Imagine you wake up tomorrow and you have an extra 45 million dollars. Now imagine each of those dollars is a person who will not get healthcare. What's it say about you if you don't get that point?

Peace
People who benefit from or only understand perpetual war are threatened by peace. Imagine that, threatened by peace. That's like being terrified by a puppy. Someone really did a number on these people. I wish they would get help and quit running the country.
Sugar in Food
Do we really need sugar or corn syrup in everything? And people looked shocked at the obesity problem we have. Add a punitive culture that punishes perceived weakness and you have a perfect fat building factory. There's also all the money the food companies make. The free market always has our best interest in mind.
Best Healthcare in the World
Some people crow about how we have the best healthcare in the world. That's true if you can afford it or have coverage. Otherwise, you're out of luck. Great country.
Poor People and Crime
For all the lovely people who don't believe in helping others, (unless there are bootstraps they lift themselves up by) please think about this fascinating conundrum. The same person you don't help today is the one that shows up at your house to rob you because they don't have anything. No wonder you have to sit in your house clutching a gun, waiting for them. It's a cycle that keeps occurring unless it's interrupted. Lack of compassion tend to feed on itself.
You can't lift yourself up by your bootstraps if you've never had boots and don't even know what they are. Just because you had boots doesn't mean everyone else did as well.
You can't lift yourself up by your bootstraps if you've never had boots and don't even know what they are. Just because you had boots doesn't mean everyone else did as well.
Government is the Problem
Did you know there are people out there who fervently believe government should be as small as possible? Limited government. These are the same people who get hit by a disaster and gladly accept the help of the government.
I propose that, if you don't believe in government helping people, then you shouldn't get help in any form. This includes police, courts, roads, fire, disaster relief, military, schools, etc. Don't want to contribute to the country you live in, find one that better fits your goals. Why do you get to pick and choose what your tax money is spent on? What makes you so special? Why are you any more special than anyone else?

Race and Voting
Did you know there are actually people who would not vote for a candidate of a certain color in our country? That says a lot about what we're willing to tolerate in our society. Did you know some people even scare large segments of the population by suggesting the brown people will take away their stuff? You can't make this stuff up, it would seem a country like that is full of boneheads.

Conservative Land
Conservative Land Description
A sunny place named Militaria. Taxes only go to defense and law enforcement. All else is run by corporations. Guns everywhere. If you can't hack it, get out. Take care of your own. Survival of the fittest. Perpetual war to keep people off balance and revved up. Lots of God stuff. Lots of law enforcement for regular and poor folks but less for business and the rich folks that run the country.
Sounds over the top, except it's not a joke, many people in this country actively advocate these positions. One might even say the country's leadership has actively and consciously shifted us toward this panacea. There are radio personalities, politicians and regular folks that salivate about this kind of country every day.
Exactly the kind of country Jesus had in mind.

Impeach
This is the system the founding fathers set up to limit the powers of a rogue leader. Two people come to mind that we need to use this tool against. They've already done immeasurable damage to the Constitution and the country. Will lawmakers have the courage to do what's best for the country rather than their party? No.
The founding fathers didn't foresee a Congress of cowards and criminals.

Tough Guys
Tough guys are aggressive because they are hurt inside and always feel they need to protect themselves. They look menacing on the outside but it all comes from being scared inside. They often don't realize that if they faced their hurt and resolved it they could live a life of balance. The more secure and happy you are the less tough you need to be. People deserve to live fear and violence free lives.

Balls Hanging from Trucks
You can bet this guy feels great about himself and is not compensating for any feelings of inadequacy. Class act all the way and nice all around. Secure people always hang ball sacks from trucks. Someone get those trucks some underwear.
How to Make Money
Work hard on your dream. Forget all these get rich quick schemes. Also remember that money is only a small part of true happiness. There are plenty of very wealthy people who would trade places this very moment with a happy person of less means.
When you die you don't wish you had made another million, you focus on the things that really matter: how you treated yourself, did you pursue your dream, did you help others, were you kind, were you truly fulfilled and happy.

Peacenicks
You ever meet these people who are actually afraid of people who want peace? How can you be afraid of peace? I suggest that it is that mindset that causes perpetual war.
Affirmative Action Babies
Did you know there are some white guys who complain about affirmative action? Guess they forget that white guys have had the benefit of every right, privilege and quota since the inception of our country. You'd have to be a major douchebag to not let other folks in on it. Or at least a high profile radio host or the white guys currently running the country.

Sex Education
Everyone is so worried that kids will have more sex if they have more information about it. This is the equivalent of sticking one's fingers in one's ears and saying, "la, la, la, la, la," instead of just listening. How well does ignoring sex ed work? Look at our teenage and out-of-wedlock pregnancy statistics versus any developed country sometime.
It might be helpful if we stopped being so scared of everything, including sex, and actually talked about it. Information helps people, not ignorance. For those of you waving Bibles, what's that joke about the preacher's daughter? The more repressed people are the more deviant behavior arises. Don't believe me? Think about whether there is a connection between saying you're being "bad" when you eat chocolate cake and our obesity problem. Now transpose to being "bad" about sex.

The Loudest Truck and Stereo
What kind of a person do you have to be to make your truck as huge and loud as possible and then add a honkin' loud stereo on top of it?
Theory of Evolution and The Bible
Did you know there are people that think that the Bible creation story is true. This is based on one book? Did you know the theory of evolution is testable and observable and is drawn from thousands of books and thousands of replicable experiments? But why would anyone want to go on evidence when you can say that it was all created. Less thinking is always better.
Sure evolution doesn't tell you how to live your life. But, then again, I wouldn't want to live the sexless, fear ridden, self-righteous lives of many who follow the Bible. Where is it written that the Bible has all the answers? Oh, I forgot, the Bible. It's sort of like some snake oil salesman telling a group he has the cure for cancer. Some will believe and some won't. Which are you?
P.S. When did evidence become a bad word. Show me how you arrive at your conclusions and I might agree with you. Just don't ask me to believe in something that can't be proven. I used to believe in the Easter Bunny until I got more information. Apparently some people don't believe in information unless it comes out of one book. What if some guy in Utah was claiming his book led him to believe in polygamy. Oh wait, that's another story...or is it?

New Year's Resolutions
Everyone makes these and then falls back on doing exactly the same thing they always have. This naturally happens in a culture that doesn't value the personal insight that leads to true change. We tend to go for the quick fix or keeping up appearances rather than measurable action.
